Geographic Information Systems: A Practical Approach to Transportation Network Modeling and Optimization

This is a short introductory course on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and their use in network modeling and optimization along with examples from real projects. After introducing fundamentals of GIS, basics of GIS network modeling and several network optimization solvers in a commercial GIS software application will be presented and discussed. The course will conclude with examples of different industry applications utilizing GIS and its network optimization tools in decision making.
